Walking Billboard

So I was walking through Times Square last night, wearing our My Other Shirt is Much Funnier shirt, and there was this big commotion outside the Virgin Megastore.  Some scantily clad chicks and some guys in George Bush masks, you know, typical Saturday night stuff.  Well, it turns out they were with Idiot Ink, some company that makes bumper stickers, which I discovered when another guy, apparently associated with this group, handed me a Cheney/Satan 08 bumper sticker and told me he loved my shirt.  I was swept away by the crowd before I could say anything back, but I realized a couple of things:

  • I need to wear our shirts more often, essentially become a walking billboard for the Bouteek.  After my encounter with sticker guy, I caught a whole bunch of people checking out the shirt.  I just need to figure out how to capitalize on that.
  • I need to get some damn business cards printed up.  It’s so much easier to hand someone a card when they comment on your shirts than to be like “Oh, thanks.  You know, I design and make these shirts, you should really check them out at www.geekbouteek.com“.

I also gotta come up with some tricks like those bumper sticker guys, I realize that we have not at all taken advantage of being headquartered in NYC yet.  Spring is in the air, though, so it’s time to get out and pound the pavement.

Geek T-Shirts For Valentine’s Day

Ok, so here’s a little bit of shameless self-promotion, which in all honesty, is one of the reasons for this blog’s existence.

Valentine’s Day is fast approaching, and no matter what you actually think about this holiday, if you are in a relationship with a special someone, especially is that someone happens to be female then you know that you have to step up and seal the deal on the 14th.  If and if that person happens to be a geek (in which case you’re very lucky, indeed there’s no better way to express your feelings than with one of our cool girlie geek shirts.

If you want to get her something totally unique, check out our QT-Pi and geekissexy shirts.

Throw in a dozen roses or a box of chocolates and you should be golden.

Geek Bouteek Mentioned on So Many Shirts And Only One Body

Hot on the heels of selling our first shirt, the Geek Bouteek is proud to announce that we have been officially mentioned on a t-shirt bog for the first time.  The blog So Many Shirts and Only One Body was cool enough to mention our Human Readable shirt, a design I’m particularly fond of because it has both the cool bar-code design and an extra-geeky phrase (for computer code that humans can read).

Check them out and then go buy the shirt!

Now, we’ve had plenty of support from of friends (check them out in the links on the right), which has been awesome, but this is the first time a complete stranger has linked to our store.  Maybe we can start building some cred in these parts, get on the radar and get some eyeballs to the site.  Tt gets a little lonely out here sometimes.

The Geek Bouteek Has Sold Its First Shirt!!!!

It is with great excitement that I announce that the Geek Bouteek has officially fulfilled it’s first online order.  Or order of any kind.  I mean, we’ve given away a bunch of free shirts, but really, that’s the opposite of what we’re trying to do here.

The store has been open for a couple of weeks now, but we’re finally starting to get the word out that we’re here and we’ve got some pretty cool shirts for sale.  So the hope is that we just needed to get the ball rolling, so to speak.

And to our first customer, who shall remain nameless: Thank you.

And now, here’s to many, many more.

New York Comic Con - It’s Official

We ponied up our full registration fees for a booth at the New York Comic Con last week, so it’s official now, you will all be able to come visit the Geek Bouteek at booth 2023 at the NY Comic Con, April 18-20 (click here for more information on the Con).

Now, I have to admit that I have absolutely no idea what this will entail or how it will go off. I’m figuring we’ll show up with a bunch of shirts, put up a sign and wait for the hordes to descend on us, so to speak. I actually haven’t been to the NY Con yet, but I have been out to the San Diego Con twice in the the last three years (I do remembering suffering a bit from the old “Convention Headache”), so I think we have an idea of how these things work.

And don’t worry, we will be promoting the hell out of this as the event gets closer and we start to figure out how on earth we’re going to pull this off.
